Penn Avenue has been referred to as the “front porch” of North Minneapolis. The revitalization of the 27th and Penn Cluster will be a welcome mat to the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods of North Minneapolis.

Project Area
The 27th and Penn Ave. North cluster includes the properties along Penn Avenue North bounded by 26th Avenue North on the south and 29th Avenue North on the north.

Vision and Recent News
Big changes are underway at 27th and Penn! Cluster residents, the Jordan Area Community Council, and elected officials from the City made it clear that they were sick of the blight and negative impacts that the boarded buildings are having on the good neighbors that live on this block and they have all joined together to take this block back. Twenty-seven properties in and around this cluster have already been impacted by cluster partners though acquisition or demolition. The Jordan Area Community Council has selected the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation (GMHC) as its development partner for this cluster and will soon be identifying a redevelopment plan. GMHC has completed construction on two new homes and has rehabbed one home. Two of these homes have sold to owner-occupants.
